We aim to provide high quality-health care to all patients.

If you are registered for Online Services you will have access to book or cancel an appointment, order repeat prescriptions and view patient summary care records and detailed coded medical records using the links at the bottom of this page. If you would like to register for online services please contact the surgery for further details.

Please continue to contact the practice by telephone to book an appointment or make an enquiry.

Please only attend the practice in person if you have an appointment or have been specifically asked to do so by a member of the practice team.

We ask that everyone wears a face covering or mask when attending and only come to the practice at the time of your appointment. Please do not arrive early or late and please come unaccompanied unless it is necessary for you to attend with someone.

Flu vaccination now available.  Flu clinics will be taking place this year at the Town Hall in Hartlepool, to book an appointment contact either your surgery, follow the link or call the flu hotline on 01642 033748.


All shielding patients will be seen at Throston Medical Centre for their safety. If you are a shielding patient, please contact the surgery you are registered with to book an appointment.

We are applying to become an Armed Forces veteran friendly accredited GP practice.


A veteran is anyone who has served for at least one day in the Armed Forces, whether regular or reserve. It means the same as ‘ex service personnel’ or ‘ex-forces’.


Whilst many aspects of the health needs of veterans are the same as for the general public, there are sometimes significant differences, particularly in relation to conditions attributable to service life and the impact upon families. These differences can be reflected in the way in which healthcare is delivered, the range and types of some specific services provided and the long-term impact upon patients and families.

Patient Notice

Whilst Coronavirus is infectious to children, it is rarely serious. If your child is unwell, it is likely to be a non-coronavirus illness, rather than coronavirus itself.

Whilst it is extremely important to follow Government advice to stay at home during this period, it can be confusing to know what to do when your child is unwell or injured.

Remember that NHS 111, GP's and Hospitals are still providing the same safe care that they have always done.

The link here will provide some direction on where to seek help depending on your child's symptoms:

Due to the current COVID-19 emergency, demand for appointments in the evening has completely disappeared, until further notice we will be delivering these appointments within our usual opening hours to meet the increasing demand we are now experiencing.

Patient Notice

“We have been made aware of some inaccurate information circulating (especially on social media) regarding special ‘rescue packs’ of antibiotics and oral steroids for patients with pre-existing respiratory conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (or even for those who don’t have these conditions).
We would like to reassure you that patients who suffer with severe respiratory conditions already have these in place (along with the instructions how to use them). Oral steroids are powerful medicines and any decision to use them would need careful evaluation by a prescriber, usually a doctor or respiratory specialist nurse.
Please do not contact your GP practice for a rescue pack unless this is something that has been previously agreed and prescribed by your medical team. You should continue to manage your condition in the usual way and if you feel you have symptoms of COVID-19, go to or call 111 (online services should be used as a first choice) before doing anything else.”

With effect from 6pm tonight 23/03/2020 our Hartfield surgery will temporarily close due to the COVID outbreak.

In view of the current  corona virus pandemic, McKenzie Group Practice have made the decision to reduce the number of patients having access to our 5 sites. GP and Nurse Practitioner appointments will be telephone consultations only.  

Please do not come to the surgery. Please contact us via telephone or use the online service to order your medication or to request a pre bookable telephone call back.

Important information about the coronavirus (COVID-19)


The NHS across Teesside will be better prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases, if the public follows Public Health England advice.


The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of patients and staff which may mean your patient experience is subject to change.


The Chief Medical Officer announced on Friday 13 March that the country is moving into the ‘Delay’ stage of the response to coronavirus (Covid-19).


The new advice issued by the Chief Medical Officer is to stay at home for 7 days if you have either:

• a high temperature or

• a new continuous cough


Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or a hospital. You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home.


Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service if:

• you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home

• your condition gets worse

• your symptoms do not get better after 7 days


Only call 111 if you cannot get help online.

Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:

• Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.

• Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

• Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
